Do you know any fun brain games/teasers to share with family and friends?
June 16, 2009 – 11:33 pmMy friend knows a game where you use spoons or knives and make a "number". they try to guess the number, but the trick is after you make it with the utensils you show a number with your fingers subtly. Its fun watching people play and struggle with it. Does anyone know any other games like this one? or similar?
Around the World: you need at least two players that know how to play but not everyone can know how to play
you basically state "If I am going around the world I would got to Alaska" (or some other part of the world that starts with the letter A such as Alabama) and then ask "Where would you go?" The person that follows has to state the name of a place that has an r and so on until you get to all the letters in AROUND THE WORLD. If they don't pick a country with the specific letter you say "No you can't go there"
It's funny watching people get frustrated because they can't find the pattern.
Other similar pattern games include:
Bobby's World in whick you say things like "In Bobby's world there are trees but no leaves" or other things that two consecutive repeated letter such as grass but no dirt or pools but no water. People will try to look for a connction between the objects themselves not with the letters.
Four is cosmic: ex ten is three, three is five, five is four, and four is cosmic (count the letters in each number and you'll see why)
The Island game: two players at least must know the trick but not all
you say "If I were stranded on an Island and could only bring one thing it would be (insert word that starts with the same letter as the first letter of your name such as Sandra would bring snails)" people will name other things that don't start with the same letter as the first letter of their name so you'll say "No you're dead" and move on to the next until they get the pattern.
These games all deal with confusing people with patterns that they wouldn't think of. This frustrates them and watching their reactions is fun. When they find the pattern they end up saying "Well that's stupid" it is but their reactions are well worth it.

Tell a friend that you have 11 fingers. When he scoffs at this claim, count from 1 to 10 on your fingers: then count backwards, saying, '10, 9, 8, 7, 6, - and 5 fingers on the other hand makes 11!
Place an empty glass on a table upside down. Then place on the table three matches and invite one of the parties to place one of the matches on top of the glass using only the other two matches. After some difficulty, he will do this. 'But,' you will say, 'I told you to put the match on the top of the glass - and you've put it on the bottom!'
