The story mode is …
The story mode is exclusive to the DS version of the game, though. It doesn’t seem that it’ll be in the Wii version.

This game will …
This game will actually have a story mode. Eggman and Bowser are working together, melting all the snow and stealing the snow spirits. It will feature cutscenes, and SEGA says that it marks the first time where both parties have official dialogue with each other.
