Sonic 3 & Knuckles (Tails) : Part 9 - Knuckles Has a Small Brain

Now it is time for the final stage of the Sonic 3 portion of the game, Launch Base Act 2! What can be said about this stage… It is really similar to the previous stage, except with a few more traps and things such as high-speed water tubes. The stage is also particularly lacking on shields, so you have to get them from the checkpoint bonus games. There is also plenty of water here and there, so you can end up losing Fire and Lightning shields pretty quickly. This leads me to wanting to get new shields, which results in checkpoint bonus games, which results in you getting to see why I usually avoid them. The checkpoint bonus games can take up a lot of time, and if I went to every single one of them, this playthrough could end up taking nearly twice as many videos.
The boss of this stage has two different phases. The first one, Robotnik hops into a mechanism and starts shooting giant cannon balls at you. Simply use the door that opens up to jump up high enough to hit Robotnik. After a short flight, you get to the second form… This one shoots lasers at you and Robotnik has a small electrical orb going around his head. Avoid the lasers and orb and jump on Robotnik’s head to off the boss quickly enough. The orb can be tricky though, so pay close attention.

One thing that I never understood is the fact that you fight 3 bosses in this zone when playing Sonic 3, but in Sonic 3 & Knuckles you only fight 2…
Sonic and Tails don’t fight against Sonic 3’s final boss but Knux does! Weird…^^U
Putting random rants aside… Impressive run of this act, I can’t wait to see Sonic & Knuckles levels.
Zones like Flying Battery and Lava Reef are really funny to play as Miles (Tails) ^^

That boss is the final boss for Sonic 3 by itself. Pink is playing Sonic 3 with the Sonic & Knuckles attatchment, and when S&K is locked on with S3, the S3 final boss is removed from the game.
